Benefits manager to hire 200 in Mesa

More than 200 jobs are coming to Mesa with the opening of a benefit-management firm for a Fortune 100 pharmaceutical company.

West Business Services, a division of West Corp., is hiring sales and customer-care personnel to guide customers of the pharmaceutical business toward ordering prescriptions by mail, said Tom McWethy, executive vice president.

"There is training, management opportunities and senior-management opportunities as well," he said of filling openings for the National Sales Center that will share space with InPulse Response Group at 1906 E. Main St.

"We're going to be looking at and discussing with the customer what they receive now, how they receive and how they can combine that into a mail-delivery method to save money," McWethy said. Not only will the customer be better served, he said, the pharmaceutical firm will save money by outsourcing service.

The business will contact only customers of West's pharmaceutical client and is not to be confused with a telemarketing operation, said Patrick Dixon, a spokesman for the company.McWethy said that he doesn't expect the sluggish economy to slow business and that West picked Mesa because of the city's talented labor pool.

The Mesa sales center is expected to be in operation within 45 days. John Sanley, president of West Business Services, described Mesa in a prepared statement as "a city with exceptional talent and energy."
