Pfizer approached by EU's pharmaceuticals inquiry
US pharmaceuticals giant Pfizer Inc said it has received an official approach from the European Commission as part of that body's investigation into competition practices in the EU's pharmaceutical sector.
A spokesperson for the company said: 'We can confirm that we have had a visit from commission officials regarding their sector inquiry into competition in the pharmaceutical sector.
We understand the commission are contacting a number of companies and we are fully co-operating with them.'The UK's GlaxoSmithKline , AstraZeneca and France's Sanofi-Aventis (NYSE:SNY) have also confirmed that they have received approaches from the commission.
